The Midlands is getting a new LGBTQ+ club night, Klub Kwén, featuring Athlone drag collective, The Haus of Kwén. The event will kick off in The Venue in Athlone at 9pm on Friday, February 16, with a Gayentine’s show full of glamour and entertainment.

Both events take place the same night with the Gayentines drag show starting at 9pm followed by KLUB KWÉN, the after show party, with DJ Annie Banter from 10pm until 2am. Hosted by Tess Tickles the event will feature performances from Domino, Kobrah Kage, ÉIRESURE, Sassy Weef, Jackie Off and the debut of Madz Anxiety. A society for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students at Athlone IT is launching a new page on the facebook website tomorrow Thursday to coincide with clubs and societies day at the local institute. As part of its Summer programme Luan Gallery is delighted to present Queer As You Are ; a group exhibition of Irish artists which explores the gaps and fissures of queer presence within Irish history and considers how queer historical discourses, or lack thereof, populate our past, present and future.
